Smart sustainability: Tapping into the power of IoT technology (Melbourne Water)
In Melbourne, Australia, climate change is creating more extreme weather including heavy rainfall. With sufficiently heavy rain, a clogged sewer grate can cause the water to back up and flood streets. So, Melbourn Water decided to re-think its grate inspection process. Simply increasing the frequency of inspections wasn’t an efficient use of labor. Instead, Melbourne Water installed still image cameras to monitor conditions at trial locations. The cameras are connected to a network of integrated solutions, including IBM Maximo Health, IBM Maximo Monitor and IBM Maximo Visual Inspection software.
You can read the full customer story to find out how Melbourne Water’s new inspection system using IBM Maximo software helps keep floods at bay.
